SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Lady Pirates fall behind late to the USC Upstate Spartans, losing 65-59 Thursday in Big South conference play.

Madison Buford chipped in 13 points.
Hampton opened the game on a 12-7 run in the first 6:37 of the first quarter. The Pirates would fall behind in the second quarter, but would keep the game close, as they found themselves down 29-25 at halftime.
The Lady Pirates would fall behind by as many as 11 points in the second half, however, they would not be put away so easily. Hampton would tie the game at 55 following a Buford made jumper with 2:25 remaining in the game. The Spartans would outlast the late-game push from the Lady Pirates, giving them the win.
