HAMPTON, VA- Hampton University Department of Athletics announces hiring Tahj Scott as the Director of Athletic Academic Support/Life Skills.
Scott has displayed his passion for student-athletes, not only in the collegiate community but in other communities.
The Kecoughtan alum has hosted countless life skills, academic building, and career transition programs through his company, "Rise To The Occasion." As a product of Hampton, Virginia, Scott has worked hand-in-hand with a variety of athletic programs inside the Peninsula District and surrounding areas.
His efforts in the academic success and life skill-building arena are well represented, respected, and undeniable.
Over the last decade, Scott has worked relentlessly in athletics as a college basketball coach, mentor, advisor, and trainer. On the collegiate level, Scott coached for three years at St. Andrews University, one year at Richard Bland College, and one year at Thomas Nelson Community College (now Virginia Peninsula Community College).
He also spent three years with Team Loaded Virginia 3SSB as an assistant coach, working with current and future Division 1 basketball players on and off the court.
Scott is a two-time graduate of St. Andrews University, receiving his B.A. in Psychology (2016) and a Master's degree in Business Administration (2019).
He also played three years of collegiate basketball; one year at Patrick Henry Community College and two years at St. Andrews.
Academically, Scott made the Dean's List in three different semesters (2013, 2014, 2016) and was named to the Academic All-Conference team.
