Hampton, Va. (Sept. 16, 2023) The Lady Pirates fought tough and hard in a loss against the reigning CAA Champion Towson Tigers in today's match. The game ended in three sets (13-25, 19-25, 11-25).

Madison Clark tallied 11 kills in the match, the 8th time she has reached double digit kills at Hampton.
Maria Eduarda Rodrigues posted her first career double-digit assist game with 11.
Kylah Hunter led the team in digs (9) while also finishing with four assists.

The Lady Pirates recorded more blocks than their opponent (7-6) for the first time since October 2, 2022. Senior
Rickelle Wescott, tallied four on her own (2 solo, 2 assist), while Rodrigues and
Cortni Adams each had two.

The Lady Pirates started off strong, taking the first two points of the match. Three kills by
Madison Clark kept Hampton ahead at 5-4. The Tigers rattled off six straight points to push their lead to five (5-10). The Lady Pirates brought the score within four at 8-12, but were unable to rally as Towson took the next five and put the set out of reach.
Rhisen Davis finished the set with 11 receptions.

Hampton kept Towson on its toes in the second and forced eight attacking errors. The Lady Pirates jumped out to another early lead at 4-3. Despite giving up the next three points to the Tigers, the score was tied at six, and then again at 11. Two four-point runs clinched the set for the Tigers as it ended 19-25. Hampton out-blocked the Tigers 3-0 in the set.

The Lady Pirates fell behind early in the third at 1-5 and were never able to recover. The Tigers went on a seven-point run and then a three point run to end it 11-25. Five different Lady Pirates recorded a dig in the third.
