HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 30, 2023) The Lady Pirates fell to Tribe in this afternoon's match in straight sets (12-25, 15-25, 23-25).

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues led the Lady Pirates in kills with nine while teammate
Madison Clark had seven and passed 200 for her career.
Kalyn Pierre recorded her season-high with 12 assists and in
Nadja Bulatovic's first game for Hampton she had seven.
Rickelle Wescott continues to be on a tear in the ace department adding two more to put her season total to 12.

On the defensive side,
Kylah Hunter finished with 11 digs while
Madison Clark finished with eight digs including going 15-15 on receptions. Hampton finished with eight total blocks and were led by
Tyller Williams and
Rickelle Wescott with four block assists each. Wescott has now posted more than 50 blocks as a member of the Lady Pirates.

Set 1

The Lady Pirates started the first set off cold by falling behind 1-4. They rallied back to only trail by one at 4-5 thanks to two kills by Clark and ace from Wescott. The Tribe scored the next six and held their lead the rest of set (12-25).

Set 2
Â
The second was like the first. The Lady Pirates tied the score at three but then fell behind as the Tribe scored six straight. It ended 15-25.

Set 3
Â
The third looked like a completely different ball game. Each team fought hard point after point and the game stayed within two points until 14-17. The Lady Pirates put together a four-point run as the Tribe only led by one at 18-19. The Tribe stretched the lead to three at 18-21 but Hampton strung together another four points to take the lead at 22-21. During that run,
Rhisen Davis tallied two kills and Rodrigues and Wescott snatched a block. The Tribe stole the set at the last moment 25-23.
