Pirates Place Third at Lancer Pink Invitational

FARMVILLE, Va. (Oct. 11, 2023) … Hampton University men's cross country team placed third this evening at the Pink Lancer Invitational. Out of the 42-man field, the Pirates had one runner place in the top 10 and another finish in the top 15.

Mohammed Al-YaFee once again led the Pirates and finished the eight-kilometer race with a time of 27:01. Al-YaFee had an average mile of 5:26.2 and placed fifth. Nellie Ambriton cracked into the top 15 placing 12th. The freshman from Georgetown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, crossed the line with a time of 28.07.1. Khalid Hamid just had a solid finish placing 16th and was close behind Ambriton with a time of 29:17.5.

The Pirates finished the meet with a score of 90. Hampton was only 14 points away from taking second place from Eastern Mennonite. Longwood the hosts of this evening's meet finished first with a score of 22 points.

Hampton University men's cross country team is back in action at the CAA Championship meet on Nov. 1. The meet will be held in Elon, N.C.
