Lady Pirates Continue Conference Play on the Road at Stony Brook


HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 8, 2024) … The Lady Pirates return to action against Stony Brook at LaValle Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 10. Hampton's match against the Seawolves is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on FloSports. 

Prior to joining the Coastal Athletic Association HU had never faced Stony Brook. SBU leads the series 2-0, with the Seawolves taking the most recent matchup 6-1. 

Hampton in its last time out, fell at Powhatan Field to UNCW 3-0. The Seahawks struck first in the 24th minute of the match. However, UNCW kept the pressure on the Lady Pirates in the first half taking eight corner kicks. Before the end of the half, Hampton's Madisyn Strange recorded HU's first shot on goal. The Seahawks scored twice in the second stanza building upon their advantage. 

So far this season, Hampton has scored the eighth most goals in the conference finding the back of the net 17 times. Over 40 percent of the Lady Pirates' goals have been scored by Sanaa Perry and Ellen Van Caenegem. Freshman Nylah Jennings has had a superb start to her collegiate career. The Bowie, Md. native is third on the team for points with six. Jennings has scored twice and tallied two assists. 

The Seawolves are coached by Tobi Bischof who is in his sixth season with the program. In his six seasons, the program is three wins shy of 50 victories. Stony Brook began conference play with a 3-0 win over Charleston. The Seawolves only have one conference loss falling to Elon. In its last time out SBU produced a 1-1 tie against Hofstra. While the Pride struck first in the 16th minute, Coach Bischof's side found the back of the net in the waning moments of the half. 

Stony Brook has been one of the best passing teams in the conference. The Seawolves are averaging 2.46 assists per match which is the 20th most in the nation. Junior Luciana Setteducate leads SBU in assists this season with seven. The Bellmore, N.Y. native ranks first in the conference for assists and eighth in the country.
