HAMPTON, Va. (Nov. 15, 2024) ... Hampton prepares to take on Richmond in the final home game of the 2024 campaign on Saturday. It marks the final home appearance in a Pirate uniform for 19 seniors in the noon kickoff at Armstrong Stadium.

The list includes: Elijah Burris (RB, Gastonia, N.C.), Rodrick Dorsey Jr. (DL, Andrew, S.C.), Tre Everett (DB, Pahokee, Fla.), Darius Gooden (RB, Newark, N.J.), Ze'Marion Harrell (LB, Virginia Beach, Va.), Randy Jordan (DB, Tulare, Calif.), Terrence Lane (DB, Grosse Pointe, Mich), Xavier Marshall (DB, Charlotte, N.C.), Malcolm Mays (QB, Arlington, Texas), Dorrian Moultrie (WR, Columbus, Ohio), Brandon Murphy (DB, Altamonte, Fla.), Akie Nance (Dl, Newark, N.J.), Darrius Outlaw (Owings Mill, Md.), Tymere Robinson (RB, Hackensack, N.J.), Messiah Russell (DB, Newport News, Va.), Jacoby Sharpe (DL, Sugar Hill, Ga.), David Stevens (DB, Paramus, N.J), Jordan White (DB, W. Orange, N.J.), and Jordan Wimberly (WR, Paterson, N.J.).

The group seen coaching change, membership in a new league and, for some, COVID. They have been an integral part of the rebuilding process that has Hampton on the cusp to its most successful season since 2018. The group will play their final game in a Pirate uniform on Nov. 23 when the Pirates play at Albany.

The Game
This year's contest will mark the next-to-last game for Richmond as a member of the CAA. Earlier, the Spiders announced a move to the Patriot League for football beginning next year. Richmond's last CAA game will be next week as it hosts William & Mary.

Richmond comes into the contest 6-0 in the CAA record and 8-2 overall. In 2023, the Spiders were 7-1 in CAA play. Their last league loss was to Hampton. The Pirates topped the Spiders 31-14 on Sept. 30 in Richmond.

Chris Zellous passed for 256 yards and Elijah Burris rushed for 116 yards while the Pirate defense held Richmond to just 30 yards rushing in that game.

For the season, Richmond (195.9 ypg) and Hampton (195.1 ypg) claim two of the CAA's top three rushing attacks. Richmond's Zach Palmer-Smith is second in the CAA in rushing with 980 yards and 10 TDs. Ja'Quan Snipes has picked up the slack for Hampton following the injury to Elijah Burris. After rushing for 181 yards in his first two seasons at Hampton, Snipes has a team-best 531 in 2024 with six TDs.

In addition, Hampton boasts the CAA's third stingiest defense (307.3 ypg) and second-best pass defense (69.2 ypg). The Spiders have the CAA's second-best defense, allowing just 20.3 ppg.

Pirate coach Trent Boykin has the luxury of two first-string quarterbacks. Zellous started every game in 2023. Senior Malcolm Mays was the starter in 2022 before playing just one game in 2023. Zellous has 299 yards rushing with six TDs and has passed for 890 yards while completing .619 of his passes. Mays has 784 passing yards with nine TDs and a .673 completion percentage this season.
