HAMPTON, Va. (March 20, 2024) – The Hampton track & field teams begin their outdoor season this Friday, March 22, at the Phoenix Invitational in Elon, N.C. The meet consists of 17 different teams including two other CAA opponents, Elon, and UNCW.
The women's hammer and javelin throw kicks off the day at 9:00 a.m. followed by the men in the same events. Track races will begin around 1:00 p.m.

Indoor Season
During the 2024 indoor season, the Pirates won 21 races altogether and the women's team won the HBCU Showcase. The team had seven CAA Weekly award winners and two CAA Champions, Jordan Mozie in the 800m (2:05.48), and Abria Smith in the shotput (15.84). The women's indoor shot put school record was broken four times (Abria Smith 15.84m) and freshman Leo Davis broke the 800m men's record (1:47.05).
Davis qualified for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800m event with the 12th-fastest time in the country (1:47.05). He was the first freshman to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Hampton's history.
