HAMPTON, Va. (March 21, 2024) -- The Pirates will compete against local school Christopher Newport tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at the Eyre Courts in Newport News, Va.
Hampton (2-9) is coming off a four-match spring break trip that was played in Florida. The team defeated Warner by a score of 5-2 and fell against Fairleigh Dickinson (4-3), Marist (4-1), and Marquette (5-2). The matches were highlighted by
Aryan Arora (3-0) and
Emiliano Jorquera (3-1). Arora had one match that ended unfinished.
So Far This Season
Jorquera leads the Pirates with a singles record of 7-4. He is followed by teammates Arora at 6-3 and
Donte Armbrister at 6-5.
Daniel Flynn rounds out the top four at 4-5. Jorquera and Flynn have been the Pirates best doubles pair at 3-2. A total of 10 different pairs have played together and Flynn holds the most wins individually at 5-2.
Scouting the Captains (6-3)
Eric Christiansen is in his 12th season at the helm of the Captains men's tennis program. He has coached the team to a 6-3 record this season, and most recently defeated Centre College 7-2.
Ryan Monroe (8-1) and Ashton Legum (7-1) lead Christopher Newport in singles. Ahun Vodela and Gus Mitchell hold a team-best 6-2 record in doubles.
