HAMPTON, Va. (March 21, 2024) … Nine Hampton football players have been invited to participate in Hampton's Pro Day on Friday, March 22.
The group includes four players on the offensive side of the ball and five defensive players including Darren Butts (RB, Suffolk, Va.), DeAndre Faulk (LB, Suffolk, Va.), Stanley Garner (DB, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), All-CAA Brandon Hardy (OL, Vanceboro, N.C.), Mason King (LB, Mt. Holly, N.C.), Byron Perkins (DB, Chicago, Ill.), J'Cori Shaw (OL, Elizabeth City, N.C.), All-CAA Qwahsin Townsel (LB, Egg Harbor, N.J.), and Paul Woods (WR, Buffalo, N.Y.).
The event will be held at Armstrong Stadium on the Hampton University campus.
The afternoon will begin for participating players with weight room, measurements, and body composition testing. Following vertical jump and bench press drills, the players will report to the field for broad jump, speed and agility testing.
The first Hampton player ever drafted was Lucien Reeberg. The offensive tackle was chosen by the Detroit Lions in the 19th round (264th pick) of the 1963 NFL Draft. The latest Pirate drafted was Kendrick Ellis. The defensive lineman was a third-round pick (94th overall pick) by the New York Jets in 2011.
The 2024 NFL Draft is set for April 25-27 in Detroit, Mich. It will be the 89th meeting of NFL teams to draft college players.
