HU's bullpen loaded up the bases with three walks early on in the frame.  While the Lady Pirates gave up another walk, it would be run to cross for the Phoenix in the first. Hampton got out of the stanza with a strike out from Angelina Branch

Later on in the third inning, Coach Monique White's squad found a way to tie it up 1-1. Elon started out the frame with consecutive strikeouts. HU's Carmynn Bonner gave the Lady Pirates a spark on a double down the left field line. The Dayton, Ohio native, advanced to third on a passed ball. Hampton got another baserunner with Taylor Ivey reaching first on a walk. Bonner was able to score on a fielding error by the Phoenix.

Elon would start to take control of the contest in the bottom of the fourth. Before Hampton could record an out, the Phoenix hit a two-run blast to right field. EU only recorded one more hit in the frame but drew two walks resulting in three more runs scoring. Throughout the remaining two innings Hampton's bats were held silent only recording two hits.
