HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (April 20, 2024) – The Hampton lacrosse team fell at the hands of the Hofstra Pride on Saturday afternoon in Hempstead, N.Y. at James M. Shuart Stadium. The final score was 21-5.
How It Happened
The Pride jumped out an early lead and held the Pirates scoreless in the first period. In the second, Hampton scored two of the last three goals of the period. At the 6:48 mark,
David Jackson scored his second goal of the season off a pass from
Kai Talley, his first assist this year.
Andre Myers found the back of the net (4th) and teammate
Kevin Wallace earned his first assist. The Pride led 12-2 at the half.
Mamadou Meite earned his ninth goal of the season that was unassisted with 1:29 remaining in the third frame. Myers earned a hat trick as he recorded the last two goals for the Pirates off of passes from
Xavier Salley and Meite.
Four different Pirates earned an assist in the game, tying their season-high.
Matt Hunter led the team in ground balls and caused turnovers with four each.
