BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 1, 2024) – The Lady Pirates dropped their final match of the Buffalo invite to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in Buffalo, N.Y. The sets ended 25-13, 25-18, and 25-14.
Both
Ada Bulgur and Brooklynne Patterson led the team in kills with four.
Morgan Warren posted the most assists with 13.
Kylah Hunter had two aces and Warren,
Dila Derendeli, and
Ida Wiszomirska each had one.
On the defensive side, Hunter recorded eight digs and Bulgur seven.
Cortni Adams notched three solo blocks.
The Lady Pirates jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first set. Oakland responded by taking the next eight out of nine points to go ahead 9-4. The Golden Grizzlies led the rest of the set as it finished 25-13. Five different Lady Pirates earned a dig in the set.
Oakland won the first two points of the second set, but Hampton responded by closing the lead down to one at 3-2. The Lady Pirates only trailed by one point at 5-4, but the
Golden Grizzlies took the next three and maintained the lead the rest of the set (25-18). Six Lady Pirates recorded a kill in the set.
Warren kicked off the third set with an ace that put Hampton ahead 1-0. Oakland then used a 5-0 run to regain the lead. A kill by Patterson put the Lady Pirates within a point at 8-7, but they were unable to take the lead (25-14). Patterson had three kills and five receptions in the set.

Hampton will travel up to Washington D.C. next weekend to compete against American (9/06), North Texas (9/07), and Georgetown (9/07).
