Women's Soccer begins final homestand hosting Elon Sunday

HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 11, 2025) … The Hampton University women's soccer team starts a three-match homestand on Sunday afternoon hosting Elon at 1 p.m. in Norfolk at Powhatan Field.

Hampton (5-8-1, 0-5-0) enters the final homestand of the season after a 4-1 loss at UNCW on October 4. Nylah Jennings scored the lone goal for the Pirates off a feed by Alvine Dah-Zossu with a little over three minutes left in the contest.

Elon (7-2-4, 1-2-2) defeated Campbell in its last match 2-1 on October 4 as a late goal from Grace Gelhaus in the 85th minute provided the winning margin at Campbell.

ABOUT HAMPTON
Jennings leads the team in goals scored (5), points (12) and shares the lead in assists (2). Four Pirates are next in points with six each as Caitlyn Peace and Madisyn Strange have scored three goals apiece, and the duo of Jayda Sutton and Makayla Wade have two goals and two assists each.

In the net, Avery John has a .724 save percentage and a 1.70 goals against average in 13 starts. Freshman Annika Kleffmann started the first match of her career at UNCW and has a save percentage of .706 having played in five matches this season.

ABOUT ELON
The Phoenix have been solid in the net as they ran off seven straight shutouts, spanning 716 minutes of action and 34 days. Elon has only allowed eight goals all season, while the next lowest total in the CAA is Drexel, UNCW and Charleston with 13 each.

Isa Murdock and Gabby Hoschek lead Elon in goals scored with four each, while Murdock leads in points (12) and shares the assist lead with Ashlee Brehlo with four.

Katie Bisgrove has started all 12 matches with a sparkling .869 save percentage and a goals against average of 0.67.

GOAL SCORING
This is a matchup of two of the top four teams in goals scored this season as Elon is third in the league with 24 goals and Hampton is fourth with 23.

JENNINGS MAKING CLIMB UP RECORD BOOK
With her fifth goal of the year on October 4 against UNCW, Nylah Jennings has put herself tied for fourth on the single season goals scored list in Hampton history.  Her five goals are tied for third most in a single season with Kennedy Peace who did it in 2017. Joining her in the season top 10 list are Caitlyn Peace and Madisyn Strange who each have scoerd three goals to tie for ninth place on the ranking.
