Hot Shooting Wake Forest Tops Hampton 77-48

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Nov. 9, 2025) … Raven Preston scored 13 points to lead three in double figures for Wake Forest as the Demon Deacons defeated Hampton 77-48 on Sunday afternoon inside historic Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Hampton opened the game strong on the defensive end forcing three turnovers in the first four possessions for Wake Forest. Kiya Dorroh hit a jumper to start the scoring for Hampton and Taylor Gibson responded with another to lead 4-2 with 6:52 left.

Wake put on a 13-2 run over the last 6:35 of the first period. A putback from Le'Asia Foreman stopped that run to pull Hampton to 15-6 with 28 seconds left in the opening quarter.

The Demon Deacons pushed the lead to 16 in the second quarter as Milan Brown went 1-for-2 from the line with 57 seconds left to lead 33-17. Kiki McElrath, who had six points in the quarter for Hampton, went 1-for-2 from the line with 45 seconds left and Olivia Smith drilled a triple from the left-wing with 16 seconds remaining as Hampton went into halftime down 33-21.

Halftime saw Hampton hitting 32% from the field (9-of-28) and 17% from 3-point range (2-for-12), while Wake Forest was shooting at a 52% clip (13-of-25) and 13% from 3-point range (1-for-8).

Wake Forest broke the game open in the third quarter as they outscored Hampton 25-11. A McElrath triple pulled Hampton to 40-26 with 7:47 remaining in the quarter, but Wake exploded with a 14-0 run to take a 54-26 lead on a Madisyn Jordan layup with 2:16 remaining.

McElrath and Gibson shared team-high scoring honors with 12 points, while Olivia Smith hit three triples in the second half to add nine points. Aaryn Battle topped the team with a career-high matching seven assists, along with six boards and three steals. On the game, Hampton hit 30.6% from the field (19-of-62), 25% from 3-point range (7-for-28) and 3-of-4 from the line (75%).

Grace Oliver added 12 points for Wake Forest and Mary Carter chipped in 10 as the Demon Deacons hit 31-of-55 from the field (56.4%), 3-of-16 from 3-point range (18.8%) and 12-of-20 from the line (60%). The hosts outrebounded Hampton 42-30.

Hampton is off until November 16 when they visit Gardner-Webb for a 2 p.m. contest in Boiling Springs, N.C.
