Hampton Closes Out Stony Brook Series With a Loss

HAMPTON, Va. (March 30, 2025) … The Hampton University softball team concluded the series against Stony Brook with 13-0 loss in five innings. The Seawolves took control of the contest in the top of the first frame with eight runs coming across the plate. Hampton had opportunities to score throughout but could not capitalize. 

Stony Brook's offense propelled the Seawolves to a strong start in the first frame. SBU began the contest with consecutive hits to the outfield. The Seawolves six hits in the top of the first drove in eight runs. 

The Pirates had a chance to cut into Stony Brook's 8-0 advantage. Aitirihna Aiken gave HU an early baserunner with leadoff walk. After the Seawolves recorded the first out, Kylie Hill recorded a base knock up the middle. Hampton loaded up the bases after an fielding error but Stony Brook got out of the stanza on fly out. 

Two more runs came across the plate for the Seawolves in the third inning on a two run blast. In the bottom half of the frame Hill tallied another base knock. The Chesapeake, Va. native, finished the game 2-for-2 from the plate. Stony Brook got out of trouble with a fielder's choice and a ground out. 

In the final two frames, Stony Brook produced another three runs taking a 13-0 lead. During the bottom of the fourth, Meagan Ramos produced a single down the left field line. The Seawolves halted the Pirates momentum with a double play. 

UP NEXT

Hampton softball begins a seven game road trip next Friday April 4th. The Pirates begin the stint away from home against the Towson Tigers.
