HAMPTON, Va. (June 26, 2025) … Hampton University women's soccer coach
Scot Vorwold announced the 2025 slate for the Pirates on Thursday as Hampton will tangle with an 18-game schedule filled with HBCU opponents and a first-ever appearance inside a professional stadium.
"We are very excited and well prepared for this season. We have a tough scrimmage scheduled in the first weeks of preseason, followed by a well-rounded non-conference schedule to prepare us for conference play," said Vorwold.
After a season-opening exhibition match at East Carolina on August 9, the Pirates kick off nine home matches at Powhatan Field in Norfolk as they face Delaware State on August 14 at 6 p.m. Hampton recorded a 3-1 win at Delaware State last season, which was the first over the Hornets in program history.
Following the contest with Delaware State, Hampton will tangle with Howard on August 17 at 3 p.m. in the inaugural
HBCU Women's Soccer Invitational at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. This event will be the first time that the Pirates have played on a professional field and will face a Howard squad that they played a scoreless draw with last season in Norfolk.
The Pirates will head to the deep south for their next two contests as they'll take on first-time opponents Grambling State (Aug. 24) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Aug. 26) with both matches played in Grambling, La. Hampton will conclude the month of August with another first-time opponent as they'll host Bluefield State at 6 p.m. on August 30.
September begins with a trip to the Windy City of Chicago to face yet another first-time opponent in Chicago State at 1 p.m. on September 2. The Pirates will close out non-conference action with three straight home matches as they'll entertain Lincoln (Pa.) on September 5 at noon, Virginia State on September 10 at 12:30 p.m. and South Carolina State on September 14 at 5 p.m.
Hampton starts Coastal Athletic Association action with four of their first five matches on the road. League play starts at Towson on September 18 and then a jaunt to Philadelphia to take on Drexel on September 21. A home match with Campbell starts a stretch of four straight matches against CAA South Division opponents as Hampton hosts the Camels on September 28 at 1 p.m. to close out the month of September.
The Pirates take to the road again to start October visiting Charleston on October 2 and will then take on UNCW in Wilmington on October 5. A three-match home stand will finish off the home slate with the Pirates taking on Elon on October 12 at 1 p.m., Monmouth on October 16 at noon and will celebrate Senior Day against Northeastern on October 19 at 1 p.m. The regular season closes in Williamsburg against fellow CAA South Division member William & Mary on October 26 at 1 p.m.
The CAA moved women's soccer, among other sports, to divisional action as during the regular season, teams will play nine conference matches. Those will include one match against each team in their division and four matches against teams from the other division. All matches will count in the standings.
