HAMPTON, Va. (June 27, 2025) ... Nathan Epstein, who handles play-by-play broadcast duties for Hampton University's streaming of football, men's and women's basketball games, was nominated for an Emmy in the category for "Sports Talent: Play-by-Play" by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The 67th annual event took place on June 21 in Bethesda, Md.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be considered in the same category as so many local broadcasting greats," said Epstein. "This would not have been possible without Anthony Henderson Jr. and
Mike Ballweg giving me the opportunity to tell the stories of Hampton football and basketball, or without
Dylan D'Andrea's expertise and tireless work putting together exceptional broadcasts."
The Richmond, Va. native recently completed his second year in his role with Pirate athletics for games streamed on FloCollege as well as aired by Monumental Sports. Epstein spent 10 years as the weekend sports anchor on WAVY-TV in Hampton Roads.
A 2011 graduate of Longwood University, Epstein worked at Longwood's student radio station, WMLU-FM. Following graduation, he spent two years at WDAM in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was an intern at WAVY-TV before being promoted into a full-time role.
