HAMPTON, Va. (August 13, 2025) … The 2025 Hampton University women's soccer season begins its 10
th season of action on Thursday evening as the Pirates entertain Delaware State in a 6 p.m. kick at Powhatan Field in Norfolk.
The game will be streamed on FloSports and will have live stats.
For fans attending Thursday's game, 43rd street will remain closed through the weekend, fans will still be able to park in Lot 43 but will have to take 38th or 49th street to get to Powhatan Avenue. Parking is advised in the front part of Lot 43 which is in front of the L.R. Hill Complex and walk to the stadium.
LAST YEAR VS. DELAWARE STATE
The Pirates claimed their first-ever win over the Hornets with a 3-1 victory in Dover, Delaware on September 8, 2024.
Madisyn Strange scored the first goal at the 13 minute mark of the opening half, while
Ellen Van Caenegem and
Zaria Ascue tallied goals in the second half for the win.
Delaware State leads the all-time series 5-1-1 with the teams playing to a 1-1 tie in 2023 also in Delaware.
ABOUT HAMPTON
- Second-year head coach Scot Vorwold brought in a 16-member recruiting class coming from five continents, eight countries and six states.
- Keri Geter was named to the preseason All-CAA honorable mention squad marking the first Pirate in program history to be recognized on a preseason team.
- The Pirates return three of their top four scorers in Van Caenegem (3g, 1a, 7pts) and Nylah Jennings (2g, 2a, 6pts), Mattie Edozie (2g, 4a).
ABOUT DELAWARE STATE
- The Hornets return 75 percent of their goal scoring from 2024 with Nicole Cargill, Trinity Surowiec and Nileigha Williams each scoring a goal.
- Delaware State is a member of the Northeast Conference for women's soccer where they face upcoming Hampton opponents Howard (Aug. 17) and Chicago State (Sept. 2).
