HAMPTON, Va. (August 19, 2025) … The 2025-26 Hampton Pirates men's basketball schedule was released on Tuesday and the Pirates will take on one of the more challenging schedules in recent years.
'This season we will play another challenging schedule, very much like last year, with a lot of road games in tough environments preparing the guys for league and tournament play," said Hampton head coach
Ivan Thomas.
The season will begin in Milwaukee, Wisc. on November 3 as Hampton faces Milwaukee. The Panthers finished 21-11 and were third in the regular season in the Horizon League.
Hampton will have its home opener against Mid-Atlantic Christian on November 6 before embarking on a six-game road swing over 14 days, That run will begin in Charlottesville as Hampton will visit Virginia on November 11. These teams last played in John Paul Jones during the 2017-18 season.
From there, Hampton will head to Providence, R.I. for a two-game event at Brown University where the Pirates will take on the hosts on November 14 and Holy Cross two days later.
The first part of that road swing will end up in Chestnut Hill, Mass., where the Pirates will face their second ACC foe of the season in Boston College on November 18.
Hampton will return to the 757 and head across the Hampton Roads Tunnel to tangle with Norfolk State in the Battle of the Bay on November 21. Prior to Thanksgiving, the Pirates will visit former MEAC foe UMES on November 25.
The month of December begins with a pair of home matchups as they'll face The Apprentice School on December 1 and then host Loyola (Md.) on December 3. A road trip to Washington, D.C. will hit after exams as Hampton will face Howard at CareFirst Arena on Saturday, December 13.
"The CAA schedule doesn't get any easier as we play last year's top four teams home and home in Towson, UNCW, Charleston and William & Mary," said Thomas.
Conference play will begin with a pair of matchups before January 1, with both inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center. Hampton will host Stony Brook on December 29 and then face Towson on December 31.
The 2026 portion of the slate begins with three straight road games at UNCW (January 3), Campbell (January 8) and Charleston (January 10). Hampton will hit the home floor for the first time in the new year on Martin Luther King Day, January 19, against North Carolina A&T. That game will begin a three-game homestand as they'll face Monmouth (January 22) and a rematch with UNCW (January 24).
A road trip to Drexel (January 29) and Towson (January 31) closes out the month before Hampton will host Elon (February 5) and William & Mary (February 7) to start the month.
The previously announced
2026 NBA HBCU Classic against North Carolina A&T will be held over Valentine's Day weekend, February 13 or 14, in Los Angeles. Final information on that will be announced from the NBA.
Hampton returns from California to head to New York for a pair of matchups against Hofstra (February 19) and Stony Brook (February 21). The final home weekend of the season will see Charleston come to the Convocation Center (February 26) and Northeastern on February 28.
The Pirates head up Interstate 64 to tangle with William & Mary to close the regular season on March 3 before the CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C. on March 6-10.
"It is a tough road ahead of us, but I don't think we would have it any other way," Thomas said. "We are excited with this schedule and will work hard to prepare for it."
Two additional games will be announced at a later date.
