A Madisyn Strange Hat Trick Leads Hampton Over UAPB In Women's Soccer Tuesday

Grambling, La. (Aug. 26, 2025) … A second half hat trick by Madisyn Strange helped propel Hampton women's soccer to a 4-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a Tuesday afternoon non-conference match held at the Grambling Soccer Complex.

The hat trick for Strange is the fourth in program history and the first against a NCAA Division I opponent. Dazna Austin recorded the first against Lincoln (Pa.) on September 26, 2016, while Sydney Jackson and Kennedy Peace each had one against Lincoln on September 22, 2017.

Hampton (1-2) dominated action from the start holding an 18-3 advantage in shots. The Pirates peppered UAPB goalie Makaila Riedel throughout the first 45 minutes and finally solved the riddle as junior Mattie Edozie found the lower right corner with a blast at 42:59 to give Hampton a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Strange got the ball rolling quickly with her first goal just 71 seconds into the half as she took a feed from Jayda Sutton and ripped one into the lower left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Cutting that time in half, just 33 seconds later, Strange caught a rebound off a Sutton shot and found the lower left corner again to push the lead to 3-0 at 46:44.

She wrapped up her hat trick as Evan-Nichole Whitaker found her for the final tally of the day as Strange put the Pirates up 4-0 at the 63:47 mark.

For the day, Hampton held a 36-3 advantage in shots which is the second most in a game in school history and the most against a NCAA Division I opponent. The Pirates defense kept UAPB without a shot in the second half.

Hampton returns to the home pitch of Powhatan Field on Saturday at 6 p.m. when they face Bluefield State.
