Nylah Jennings' Brace Leads Hampton Over Bluefield State In Soccer 3-0

NORFOLK, Va. (August 30, 2025) … A two-goal performance from Nylah Jennings along with one tally from Jayda Sutton helped propel Hampton to a 3-0 win over Bluefield State on Saturday evening at Powhatan Field.

The win for Hampton (2-2) was the 100th career coaching victory for head coach Scot Vorwold.

The Pirates got on track with two goals in a little under five minutes of the first half. Sutton got the first one off a rebound from a Pirate blast at 10:38 to lead 1-0. Jennings took one on a breakaway from a pass by Keri Geter and found the back of the net to put the Pirates up 2-0 at 15:12 of the opening half.

Hampton controlled possession for most of the evening holding a 35-3 advantage in shots, including 23-1 in the opening 45 minutes.

Jennings closed out the scoring at 68:33 when she found the ball at her feet off a save and popped her second marker of the evening to give the Pirates a 3-0 advantage.

On the night, Hampton held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks and the goalie tandem of Avery John and Annika Kleffmann combined for one save and the second straight clean sheet for the Pirates.

Hampton is back on the road Tuesday night as they face Chicago State in the Windy City at 6 p.m. ET. They will start a four-match homestand on Friday at noon facing Lincoln (Pa.) at Powhatan Field.
