CHICAGO (Sept. 2, 2025) … A Veronika Avila goal off a Leah Rocha feed at 42:14 of the opening half provided the only marker of the night as homestanding Chicago State defeated Hampton 1-0 in a women's soccer non-conference matchup Tuesday night.

Hampton (2-3) peppered Chicago State (2-2-2) goalkeeper Aviana Gutierrez with 31 shots as the Pirates outshot the Cougars 31-8 in the contest. Gutierrez made 12 saves with eight of those coming in the opening 45 minutes.

The Pirates put 12 shots on goal compared to six for Chicago State, but couldn't not find the back of the net.

Hampton returns home to start a four-match homestand on Friday afternoon when they entertain Lincoln (Pa.) at noon.
