NORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 5, 2025) … A five-goal outburst in the second half helped propel the Hampton University women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Lincoln (Pa.) on a steamy Friday afternoon at Powhatan Field.
Caitlyn Peace recorded a brace scoring the first two goals of the match for Hampton (3-3). She got the ball rolling with the lone goal of the first half at 21:19 ripping a blast in the lower left side of the net.
Peace followed suit 20 seconds into the start of the second half as she took a loose ball and weaved her way through the defense to put the Pirates up 2-0. Those were her first goals of the season for the freshman.
Evan-Nichole Whitaker followed up at 58:08 pushing the lead to 3-0 blasting in her first tally of the year taking a pass from
Chanel Azong. Joining in on the first goal of the season group were
Eden Lander and
Shania Harris in a span of 2 minutes, 49 seconds. Lander took a feed from
Makayla Wade at 74:06, while Harris was on the receiving end of a
Katherine Bean-Rosario connector at 76:55 to take the margin to 5-0.
Bean-Rosario finished out the scoring with a penalty kick at 88:03 following a handball inside the 18-yard box. Hampton outshot Lincoln 24-1 and had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The six goals were the most scored in a match at Powhatan Field for the Pirates and third most in a match in program history. Hampton scored a 10-0 win over Lincoln in 2017 in a match at Hampton University and took a 7-1 win over Virginia State last season in Ettrick.
The win gave second-year head coach
Scot Vorwold the most wins in a coaching career in program history, surpassing Frank Hughes who coached from 2016-17. Hampton's win also matches a program best three wins in a season set last season and in 2017.
The Pirates look to break that mark on Sunday at 4 p.m. when they face Delaware State at Powhatan Field.
