Box Score 2 TOWSON, Md. (Mar. 28, 2026) … The Hampton University women's tennis team fell to Stony Brook Saturday afternoon 5-2.
The duo of Samira Khazieva and Chelsea Chakanyuka and Serena Bryan and Melis Sakiroglu each earned wins in the two and three spot for Hampton to earn the doubles point.
Stony Brook responded strongly in singles, winning the first four spots, all in straight sets to clinch the match. Khazieva earned the Pirates lone singles win at the five spot 6-1, 6-4.
In the second match of the day, the Pirates fell to Towson 4-3 after play was suspended Friday in which Towson held a 1-0 lead following the doubles point.
Bryan and Sakiroglu earned the Pirates a point at the three spot in doubles Friday before play was suspended, but it was the Tigers winning at the one and two spot to earn the overall point.
In singles, Towson earned the first three points to clinch the match at the one, two, and three spot, but it was Hampton continuing to fight in the final three matches to earn three points. Chakanyuka (6-2, 7-6), and Sakiroglu (7-5, 7-5) each earned straight set victories while Khazieva defeated her opponent at the five spot 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 to help Hampton earn their three wins.
