Softball Falls In Series Finale at N.C. A&T 7-5

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 29, 2026) … Homestanding N.C. A&T scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to escape a Hampton comeback and take a 7-5 decision in game three of a CAA softball series on Sunday afterneoon.

Hampton got on the board with three runs in the top of the third, coming on a pair of home runs. Riley Bohanon started with a single and scored on a one-out blast to left field by Carmynn Bonner. That home run was the fifth of her season and 14th of her career which puts her into a tie for 10th on the all-time home run lost.

Camryn Hamilton took one to center two pitches later to push the Pirates advantage to 3-0.

The Aggies took advantage of two Hampton errors in the bottom of the inning to score twice trimming the deficit to 3-2. Tyra Robinson had an RBI triple and scored on a single by Jamari Ross to make it 3-2.

The hosts scored a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead before Hampton answered with a pair in the top of the sixth. Amani Johnson started with a walk and Violet Salazar smashed her first home run of the season ripping one to left field to even the game at 5-5. One run scored on a throwing error and the second on an RBI single from Robinson.
Bohanon and Hamilton had three hits each for the Pirates, while Salazar was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

The three home runs were the second time this season the Pirates have done that which equals the school single-game Division I era record for home runs in a game.

Hampton (8-22, 2-10) hosts UNCW for a three-game series starting Friday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
