Hampton Women's Cross Country and Women's Tennis Teams Honored for Academic Success

HAMPTON, Va. (May 12, 2026) … The women's cross-country and women's tennis teams at Hampton University were recognized by the NCAA for academic success in the latest Academic Progress Report released by the NCAA last week.

The two Hampton teams were honored with NCAA Public Recognition Awards, which are awarded to teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APR) in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport.

The APR is a measure used by the NCAA to track the academic success and eligibility of student-athletes over time. APR is an element of the Division I Academic Performance Program which also include Graduate Success Rate (GSR). It holds institutions accountable for supporting student-athletes in the classroom and staying on track to earn a degree.

APR provides a clear picture of how well teams are helping student-athletes succeed academically, not just compete athletically.

All 13 members of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) had teams recognized for superlative performance in the classroom.
