Darryl Bullock rejoined the Hampton coaching staff as offensive line coach in 2023. He had previously served as a member of the Pirates coaching staff from 2011-13. Bullock has a wealth of coaching experience in the high school, college, and professional ranks.
Hampton is the third member of the CAA where Bullock has worked. Previously, he was an assistant coach at New Hampshire (1999-00) as well as at Elon (2004).
He returned to Hampton after spending a year on the coaching staff at Fayetteville State and time at Morgan State. He spent the 2019 season at Dutchtown High in Georgia after two years (2017-18) on the staff at Howard as its running game coordinator/offensive line coach. He coached one of the top rushing attacks in the nation, led by All-MEAC first team honoree Gerald Wright.
Before joining the Bison, Bullock was an assistant coach at Chowan for three seasons (2014-16) after leaving Hampton where coached for three years (2011-13) as the team’s offensive line coach. Bullock came to Hampton from North Carolina Central, where he began as an offensive line coach during the 2007 season. Following the 2007 campaign, he was elevated to the rank of assistant head coach, and in 2010, he was elevated to interim head coach.
Bullock, who has been coaching football since 1989, joined the Eagles after serving as offensive line/tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at Tennessee State for two seasons (2005-06).
During the previous four seasons, Bullock served as defensive line coach at Elon (2004), East Tennessee State (2003), and Gardner-Webb (2001-02). In his last season at Gardner-Webb, he coached three All-Big South Conference linemen.
As offensive line coach at New Hampshire, five of Bullock's student-athletes claimed all-conference honors in just two seasons (1999-2000).
He spent the spring of 1999 as defensive coordinator and assistant general manager of the Dayton Skyhawks of the Indoor Football League, prior to a three-year stint as assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/offensive line and tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator at Morgan State (1996-98). In February 1999, Coach Bullock was named interim head coach at Morgan State.
Bullock served as head football coach at Immokalee (Fla.) High School during the 1995 campaign, guiding his squad to the 4A playoffs with help from All-American and future NFL standout Edgerrin James.
Prior to his high school head coaching debut, Bullock was a defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator at Morehead State (1994). He has also held an offensive line coaching internship at Penn State (1992-93) and the graduate assistant defensive line coach at Michigan (1990-91), where he earned a master's degree in Kinesiology in 1992.
In 1990, Bullock received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Penn State, where he played defensive tackle. As a player for Penn State, he was a part of two consecutive trips to national championship games, including a victory over the University of Miami in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl.
Bullock has also worked summer NFL internships with the Dallas Cowboys (2009), Cleveland Browns (2001), Miami Dolphins (2000), and New England Patriots (1998).
He is the proud father of a son, Luther.
