Marc Bacote

Rejoining the Hampton University coaching staff, Marc Bacote returns to coach the wide receivers for his second season.

He comes back to Hampton after a year as the Co-Offensive Coordinator, wide receivers and quarterback coach at Howard in 2019.  His receiver Kyle Anthony was a third team All-MEAC selection after a season of 70 catches for 786 yards and six touchdowns.

After leaving Hampton, Bacote spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach for the University of Richmond Spiders. Bacote led the Spider receiving corps in 2017.  They accounted for over 3,000-yards receiving.

Bacote led three wide receivers to All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in 2017. One student-athlete collected First Team honors and two student-athletes earned Second Team accolades. All three were ranked in the top four in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in receiving yards, the top six in receptions and the top seven in receiving touchdowns.

Bacote had his first stint at Hampton after spending a season at the Apprentice School, where he served as defensive coordinator in 2014. Under Bacote’s tutelage, the Apprentice School improved in several defensive categories, including points per game allowed, total yards per game allowed, third down efficiency, and redzone defense.

From 2011-13, Bacote coached cornerbacks at Old Dominion, including 2011 Second Team All-CAA selection Eriq Lewis. ODU made the FCS playoffs with Bacote on-staff in 2011 and 2012, including the CAA’s top record in 2012, before the Monarchs began the transition to FBS in 2013.

In 2010-11, Bacote worked at Rutgers as a quality control coach, where he worked with the team’s wide receivers and defensive line. While at Rutgers, Bacote coaches two future NFL players in Mohamed Sanu and Tim Wright.

From 2008-09, Bacote coached wide receivers at Morehead State.

His first coaching job came in 2008, when Bacote served as a volunteer assistant at James Madison, working with the Dukes’ wide receivers.

Bacote was a wide receiver at James Madison for four seasons (1997-2000), where he was a part of the school’s first conference championship team. He graduated from JMU with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, before spending five years playing arena football.

He was All-League Honorable Mention three times.

Bacote and his wife Sara are the proud parents of three children: Lake (5), Lennox (2) and Hendrix (5 months).
