Marcus Wade is in his third season on the Hampton University football program’s coaching staff, serving as a graduate assistant who will help on the defensive side of the ball.

Wade spent four seasons in the defensive backfield for the Pirates, and this past season he played in all 12 games – making 10 starts. He was eighth on the team with 43 total tackles, including 22 solo stops, and he had a career-high seven tackles against South Carolina State and at Howard.

He had three pass breakups last season, and Wade’s lone sack of the season came at Howard. Wade also tied for the team lead with two recovered fumbles – one against William & Mary and one at Richmond – and he had his lone interception of the season against South Carolina State.

Wade played in 41 career games for the Pirates, racking up 73 total tackles. He graduated this past May with a degree in sports management.

Wade, a native of Norfolk, Va., played his high school football at Booker T. Washington.
