Daniela Stake joined the Hampton coaching staff in 2024 following the hiring of Renaldo Pacheco as head coach. Stake brings a wealth of experience to the Lady Pirates with her experience on the club and collegiate levels.
A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she was a four-year member of the BYU-Hawaii volleyball team. In 1993, she earned first-team NAIA All-America honors and was named first-year All-America by Volleyball Magazine. She was named MVP while leading Coach Wilfred Navalta’s BYU-Hawaii team to the NAIA National Championship. The Seasiders repeated as NAIA national champion in 1994 and Stake received second-team All-Tournament recognition. As a senior in 1996, she led BYU-Hawaii to another NAIA crown earning first-team all-tournament recognition, first-team NAIA All-America, and Volleyball Magazine NAIA Player of the Year honors.
Stake set school records for aces and attacks and placed second in kills and digs.
Following graduation from BYU-Hawaii where she earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business, she served as a student assistant coach handling a number of administrative duties while BYU-Hawaii racked up yet another NAIA National Championship.
She coached on the club level for 11 years in both Germany and in the United States. She led her club team to the 2016 nationals in Pittsburgh, Pa.
In 2021, she moved to the collegiate level as an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire for three seasons. While at Southern New Hampshire, the team won the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament and advanced to the Elite Eight in Seattle, Wash. For the first time in school history. In 2023, the Penmen participated in the NCAA Championship First Round.
