Hampton University senior linebacker Lyndell Gibson was named HU Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance on the gridiron this past weekend.

Gibson (Virginia Beach, Va.) keyed the football team’s first victory of the season on Saturday, tying for the team lead with eight tackles and picking off a pair of a passes as the Pirates defeated rival Norfolk State 28-14 in the Battle of the Bay.

Gibson also had four pass breakups on the afternoon.
