Hampton University sophomore center Verdine Warner was named HU Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performance on the basketball court this past weekend.

Warner (St. Vincent, Grenadines) made her Hampton debut on Friday, pulling down a team-high 18 rebounds and scoring 17 points as the Lady Pirates upended Southern Miss 78-41 in Hattiesburg, Miss. She was one of three Lady Pirates to score in double figures, and one of two to record a double-double.

She also blocked a team-high four shots against the Golden Eagles.
