Hampton University sophomore pitcher Jailynn Jackson was named HU Athlete of the Week, following her performance this past weekend in the pitcher's circle.

Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked up the win in all three games against Coppin State this weekend, throwing a combined 21 innings and recording 29 strikeouts in the sweep. She struck out 12 Eagles in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, after fanning 10 Coppin State batters in the first game.

She also struck out seven in five innings of relief work on Sunday.

Jackson also pitched in the second game of a doubleheader against Campbell on Thursday, striking out four batters in 4.1 innings of work.
