Hampton University senior setter Bibiany Fonseca was named HU Athlete of the Week following her performance this past week on the volleyball court.
Fonseca (Uberlandia, Brazil) eclipsed the 1,500-assist mark for her career at Hampton on Friday, thanks to 44 assists in a four-set win over Norfolk State. She also had 37 assists in Sunday’s straight-set win over Morgan State, as well as 50 assists in Tuesday’s five-set win over William & Mary.
She has tallied 1,564 assists at Hampton, and she leads the conference in assists with 10.34 per set. Fonseca also had six service aces in last week’s three matches, as well as 5.0 total blocks and 17 digs on defense.
