Hampton University freshman guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named HU Athlete of the Week following her performance this past weekend on the hardwood.

Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) led the Lady Pirates with 29 points in Saturday’s 79-39 win at Delaware State, going 10-for-22 from the floor and 2-for-5 from behind the arc. She also tied her career high with eight rebounds, while dishing out three assists and recording two steals.

It was her fifth 20-point effort of the season.
