Hampton University senior forward Alyssa Bennett was named HU Athlete of the Week following her performance this past week on the hardwood.

Bennett (Hampton, Va.) recorded two double-doubles this past week in helping the Lady Pirates pick up their fourth straight MEAC regular-season title. She had 21 points and 11 rebounds in Monday’s 90-62 win at Maryland Eastern Shore, going 6-for-10 from the floor.

She added 17 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals in Saturday’s 83-54 win over Norfolk State – a win in which Hampton clinched the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
