Hampton University junior linebacker Joshua Thorne was named HU Athlete of the Week for his performance on the gridiron this past weekend.

Thorne (Oxon Hill, Md.) had a career-high 19 tackles in helping the Pirates shut out Delaware State 23-0 on Saturday. As Hampton held the Hornets to just 237 total yards, Thorne also had three sacks and an interception.

Six of Thorne’s tackles were for loss, totaling 34 yards.
