Hampton University senior rightside Vendula Strakova was named HU Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend on the volleyball court.

Strakova (Brno, Czech Republic) was named Most Outstanding Player of the MEAC Tournament after leading the Lady Pirates to their second straight conference title. She had 27 kills and 12 digs in Sunday’s title match against Howard, hitting .449.
 
She also had a career-high and school-record 35 kills in the semifinals against Coppin State and for the tournament, Strakova tallied 80 kills and 36 digs, recording double-doubles in all three matches. She hit .479.
 
Strakova also broke her own school record for most kills in a single season; she currently has 678.
