Hampton University sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named HU Athlete of the Week for her performance this past week.

Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) scored a career-high 37 points at South Carolina State this past Monday, becoming the 26th player in Lady Pirates history to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career. She was 14-for-29 from the floor and 6-for-12 from behind the arc in that game.

She added 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals on Saturday at Norfolk State.
