Hampton University sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named HU Athlete of the Week for her performance this past week on the basketball court.

Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) scored a career-high 39 points in Saturday’s 106-57 win at Howard, going a career-best 16-for-24 from the floor while also grabbing five rebounds and coming up with three steals.

She also had 23 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals in Monday’s 69-44 win over Coppin State.
