Hampton University senior thrower Sulaiman Fareed was named HU Athlete of the Week for his performance in track & field this past weekend.

Fareed set a new season-best mark in the shot put at the Colonial Relays this past Friday and Saturday in Williamsburg, Va., tossing the implement 16.44 meters (53 feet, 11.25 inches) to finish second in the event.

He wound up 0.16 meters shy of breaking his own school record.
