Hampton University senior Damon Dixon was named HU Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance on the track over the weekend.

Dixon (Great Falls, Va.) was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the 2011 MEAC Indoor Championships on Saturday in Landover, Md. It was the second straight year in which Dixon earned the award, winning the men’s heptathlon with 5,029 points.

Dixon won four of the seven events, while also taking the MEAC pole vault title with a mark of 4.03 meters. He finished fifth in both the high jump (1.99 meters) and the long jump (7.02 meters).

The Pirates finished second in the team standings.
