Hampton University freshman pitcher Jailynn Jackson was named HU Athlete of the Week after her performance on the mound this past weekend.

Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked up two wins on the mound against Morgan State in softball action on Saturday and Sunday. She struck out four in 4.2 innings of work on Saturday, before pitching all 10 innings in Sunday’s 2-1 win, striking out a career-high eight batters and scattering five hits.

She also went 3-for-3 at the plate in Saturday’s first game with an RBI. On Sunday, she went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.
