Men's Cross Country

LADY PIRATES FINISH FOURTH IN CAPPY ANDERSON

Pirates come in sixth.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. –
The Hampton University women's cross country team finished fourth in the Maryland-Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invitational on Saturday at the UMES Cross Country Course, while the men's cross country team finished sixth.

The Lady Pirates finished with 116 points, while the Pirates wound up with 169 points. Princeton University took both the men's and women's team titles.

Jasmin Branch (Hampton, Va.) led the Lady Pirates with a time of 19:35.90 on the 5K course to finish 25th, while Jahlisa Smith (Plainfield, N.J.) finished 27th with a 19:58.45. Kenya Jones (Chesapeake, Va.) ran a 20:16.06 to finish 32nd, and freshman Tyreka Arrington (Lanham, Md.) ran a 20:59.55 to come in 38th.

Janean Morris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished 39th with a time of 21:17.90, while Leah Richmond (Long Beach, Calif.) ran a 23:46.21 to finish 60th.

David Kimani (Kenya) turned in the best finish for the Pirates, running a 27:25.32 on the 8K course to finish 53rd. Freshman Mike Davenport (Pleasantville, N.J.) finished 54th with a 27:25.42, while Berian White (Newark, Del.) came in 55th after recording a 27:27.08. Xavier Fraction (Sewell, N.J.) finished 70th with a time of 28:18.02, and Bradley Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md.) ran a 29:14.20 to finish 80th.

Bryan Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md.) finished 94th with a 32:20.97.

Princeton's Donn Cabral won the men's individual title with a 25:13.49, while Penn State's Brooklyne Ridder ran a 17:41.53 to take the women's individual crown.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates will return to action on Saturday, when they head up to Williamsburg, Va. for the William & Mary Inter-Regional Cross Country Challenge.
