Game Notes
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University football team will look to end the 2010 season on a winning note on Saturday, when they head to Hughes Stadium to take on the Bears of Morgan State at 4 p.m.
The Pirates (5-5, 4-3 MEAC) have lost four straight following this past Saturday's 17-12 loss at Florida A&M, while Morgan State (4-6, 3-4 MEAC), under the direction of head coach Donald Hill-Eley, has lost three straight following a 32-10 loss to South Carolina State on Thursday, Nov. 11.
The Pirates are 21-35-2 all-time against Morgan State, having won six of the last seven meetings between the two schools. The Bears won last year's meeting 16-13 at Armstrong Stadium to snap the Pirates' six-game winning streak against Morgan State. In that six-game winning streak, the Pirates beat Morgan State in overtime twice – in 2003 (24-21) and in 2007 (24-17). The series started all the way back in 1922, with Hampton taking a 6-0 win; in fact, the Pirates won the first four meetings with Morgan State, including three shutouts. The two teams tied 6-6 in 1932 and 0-0 in 1940. Morgan State leads Hampton 10-4 all-time at Hughes Stadium, though Hampton won the last game there in 2008 by a score of 17-13.
