WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Hampton University tennis teams will head to Washington, D.C. to play the Bison of Howard University on Saturday at 1 p.m. 

The Pirates 8-5, 3-0 MEAC are currently No. 1 in the North Division of the MEAC, while the Howard Bison are 2-7, 2-0 MEAC. Pirates junior Gellert Varga (Becej, Serbia) leads the team in victories with 10 and freshman sensation Alvin Fludd (Washington, D.C.) is second on the team with eight victories this season. The Bison are led by George Diggs and Omar Haloui with three victories apiece. The Pirates has won four out of their last five games. Their last match, they defeated the Hornets of Delaware State 5-1. 

The Lady Pirates (7-7, 3-0 MEAC) are also No. 1 in the North Division of the MEAC, and the Lady Bison are 6-3, 1-0 MEAC. Hampton is led by junior Jovanna Sangria (Long Beach, Calif.) with nine wins this season, followed by Preseason MEAC Player of the Year Na-Hyun Baek (Seoul, Korea) with seven victories thus far. Howard is led by Michelle Brown and Britney Morgan, who both have seven wins on the season. The Lady Pirates come into this match winning three out of their last four games, while Howard has won their last two matches. In the Lady Pirates' last match, they defeated the Lady Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore 4-2. 

The Pirates return to action on Sunday, when they will travel to Baltimore, Md. to compete against the Bears of Morgan State University.
