NORFOLK, Va. – For the seventh time this season, Hampton University senior rightside
Vendula Strakova was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
It was also the third week in a row in which she earned the honor.
Strakova (Brno, Czech Republic) totaled 71 kills in three matches this past week for the Lady Pirates (15-10, 8-1 MEAC), including a career-high and school-record-tying 33 kills in Sunday's five-set loss at Howard. She hit .355 for the week, recording two double-doubles in the process.
She also had 17 digs and four aces against Howard, and she also had an 18-kill, 17-dig performance in Thursday's non-conference sweep over Manhattan.
For the season, Strakova has 15 double-doubles.
Florida A&M's Pamela Soriano was again named MEAC Rookie of the Week.
