ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Hampton University women's soccer team kicked off the final week of its inaugural season on Tuesday at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility, as the U.S. Naval Academy won the match 10-0.
The Lady Pirates fell to 0-8-0 on the season.
Clare MacAdam and Ash Fairow each had two goals for Navy, which saw eight different players score. Navy held a 9-0 lead after the first 45 minutes – including a stretch of six goals scored in the span of six minutes.
But the Lady Pirates held Navy to just four shots and one goal in the second half.
Kara Pitts made 13 saves.
Navy held a 37-0 edge in shots (23-0 in shots on goal) and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Pirates will wrap up their inaugural season on Friday and Sunday in Florence, S.C. at the Div. I Independents Tournament – part of a field that includes host Francis Marion, Delaware State, and South Carolina State.
