LADY PIRATES FALL AT PRESBYTERIAN

CLINTON, S.C. – Homestanding Presbyterian College erupted for four goals in the second half to pull away and defeat Hampton University 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Francis Whiteside scored the first of her two goals as the only tally in the first half in the 16th minute from a Kristen Peagler pass for a shot in the top left corner and a 1-0 Blue Hose lead.

Peagler put the first of her two straight goals unassisted goals in the 50th minute and again in the 53rd minute to put the hosts up 3-0.  The tandem of Whiteside and Peagler teamed up on the fourth goal in the 73rd minute as Peagler lobbed a pass to Whiteside for a header.  In the 81st minute, Ashlyn Powell closed out the scoring for the hosts with a free kick.  Presbyterian (1-0) outshot the Lady Pirates 41-0.

This was the second game in a row for Hampton where they showed improvement from 2015 and cut a margin in half after losing 10-0 to the Blue Hose last season.

Hampton (0-2-1) returns to action on September 17 to close out a four-game season-opening road swing taking on Hollins University in Roanoke, Va. at 2 pm.
